I’ve always loved immersing myself in the magic of the creative world - whether that be through music, film or art.

There is so much beauty in the world and I make it my mission to actively seek it out. I commonly find myself walking out of a movie theatre saying - “Wow, I LOVED THAT!” - so much so that my best friend Rose always says “Ruby, you’re a lover!”. Which is something I wear very proudly.

I named this site after my favouritest movie ever ‘Almost Famous’ - it was the catalyst in reigniting my spark for music journalism and adoring the magical moments when you’re in them. Dancing barefoot on a confetti-ridden hall floor, playing Pet Sounds and getting lost in it, colourful scarves over antique lamps, watching the band side-stage with stars in your eyes - and of course America by Simon and Garfunkel.

I grew up with musicians for parents and it greatly informed the way I create and love. I remember sitting in a dimly lit bar watching my dad pour his heart out to an audience over a messily scrabbled lyric sheet (likely by me because I memorised every lyric) and a James Trussart guitar. Songs that broke my heart and sewed it back together. My Mum imbued magic into folk songs just like Joni and Stevie did.

It inspired me to start writing about everything

Some of my favourite things include:

-The song ‘Don’t Stop Believin by Journey (trust me - blast that shit in the car, windows down and you will be changed forever)

-Being a lover

-Good vinyl finds

-Laurel Canyon and everything 70’s

-Perfumes that smell like vanilla and tobacco

-Mexican Food

-The book ‘The Secret History’ by Donna Tartt

-SPRING
